Basement Finishing & Remodeling in Bethlehem
Turn bare concrete into a den, office, guest suite or bath, built after a moisture check, with the stairway covered so dust doesn't travel up.
Describe what's down there now — (000) 000-0000Space You Already Own
An unfinished basement already has walls, a floor and a ceiling over it, which makes it one of the more affordable ways to gain living space. Finishing it means checking for water first, then framing, insulating and closing it in around the stairs, posts and mechanicals.
Since crews and supplies reach the basement through your main floor, the stair treads get padded, a plastic door goes up at the top step and the route is swept daily. Once it's done, the basement is covered by our 1-year warranty.
What a Basement Finish Includes
-
Framing and insulation
Foundation walls framed and insulated, new partitions placed around posts, ducts and the mechanical area, and ceilings dropped or boxed in where headroom allows.
-
Bedrooms built to code
Sleeping rooms placed where an egress opening, the required headroom and smoke alarms can all be worked in, so the room can legally count as a bedroom.
-
Water downstairs
Room for a full bath, a half bath or a bar sink. Each one's drain, supply and wiring changes are written into the basement scope from the start.
Decide Before Framing
-
Water first
Stains, white mineral crust, damp corners and how the yard drains toward the house are all checked. Any correction goes on the estimate and gets done before insulation.
-
Bedroom or not
A room meant for sleeping needs an egress opening, enough headroom and smoke alarms. Exact measurements come from your building department, so we confirm them early.
-
Ceilings and ductwork
Low beams, ducts and pipes decide where ceilings can be dropped and where they get boxed around. Planning that early keeps headroom where you will want it most.
Basement Questions
Can we add a full bathroom downstairs?
Usually. What decides it is the drain. When a toilet or shower would sit lower than the house's main sewer line, a pump lifts the waste up to meet it. We confirm that during the visit and price it on the estimate.
Our basement gets damp after heavy rain. Can it still be finished?
Often, once the cause is dealt with. The fix might be outside, like grading that slopes toward the house, or inside, like sealing cracks. Either way it comes before framing, because drywall over a wet wall only hides the problem.
